To develop the idea of taking an existing habit--doodling, and to re-evaluate it in terms of an artform is rather a stretch.Exactly this is what I did, beginning with this year 1992. I had been drawing/doodling for many years prior, but the concept of using better paper, and better media came to me, and has led to the position I find myself in at the creation of zigzagzilla--my eighth iteration of an online presence, and this is the third formatting of this site.
Southern Germany at the time I resided there was a separate nation culturally from the rest of Germany--with its massive influx of Eastern Europeans and the attendant rise in crime and apathy. For me it was time of development, the first chitosis of my persona from a dependent to an individual. This translates into a freer bent of art--both due to the fact that I had no 'ties' to my locale, and my doodling previously had so often taken the form of 'living' drawings, that would illustrate a story as my mind wandered...something which now finds its expression in the extraordinary zen quality that I have achieved in my work.
