Work in a single colour, usually black and white
There's a certain 'superiority' to art done in one colour, in that the elements one wishes to convey need be so much more 'elemental.' This is so, in that to enhance or be subtle about an 'element' the artist must either take greater care in its positioning and execution, or have some harmony in the overall image that allows for the viewer to establish rhythm--even a 'register' system that may only be applicable to that work, but never-the-less understandable.
